Hi, I’m Sandy Whitacre!


I was born Sandra Kay Tallman.  I grew up in Ontario, California
and went to Chaffey High School, then on to UCLA, where I was
a music major.  My dad was Hamilton R. Tallman, an elementary
school principal in Ontario until his retirement, and my mother is
Ila A. Tallman.
I worked for the RAND Corporation in Santa Monica, CA (1958-60).  I spent a few years in the San Francisco Bay area, where I worked for Lockheed Missiles & Space in Sunnyvale, CA (1960-65), and later General Dynamics in Pomona, CA (1967-75).

I have two wonderful children:   Suzanne, who lives with her family in Las Vegas, NV and Jeff, who lives with his new bride in Flagstaff, AZ.  My husband, Paul and I have lived in Bullhead City, AZ since 1980.  He has two children:  Greg and family, who live in Hacienda Heights, CA and Cathy and family of Corona, CA.  Collectively, between my husband and I, we have seven wonderful grandchildren and four fantastic families. Their visits to Bullhead City and the beautiful Colorado River are highlights of our lives.

I work for the Mohave Valley Daily News, where I’ve been employed since 1980, as a Classified Consultant, Legal Supervisor, and Obituary Representative.

I have recently become very interested in genealogy and have traced two of my families back to England to the 1500 and 1600’s.  These are the Mendenhall and Newlin families.  I have more to go but am just getting started.

I’m looking for information on my grandparents on my father’s side:   George and Sarah Gray Tallman.  They came from Illinois to Covina, CA where they lived out their lives.  I have, at this point, no further information on dates or their parents, etc.  Another family I need to get started on is my grandfather’s on my mother’s side.  His name was Tenry Horner, out of Friendship, Kansas.  He and my grandmother, Lizzie lived out their lives in Baldwin Park, CA.  I have, also at this point, no further information on dates, or his parents.  But I will get there.  If you can help in any way, please e-mail me.
