Supporting the Museum

The Museum has collected and is preserving records and photographs relating to the genealogical, economic and social history of Northwestern Arizona and especially Mohave County. The records are for the most part unique and exist no where else.

The Genealogical Society began the effort to organize and catalog the records in computer files. The first records were of burials in Mountainview Cemetery. These burials included previously undocumented graves of people moved from the old Pioneer Cemetery which was located where the current Kingman High School Downtown is situated.

The effort started by the Genealogical Society has spawned a major collection of data which, as of the beginning of 2004, includes some half a million records. These records are an index to the documents and photographs preserved by the Museum.

The databases in which this information is stored can be searched by an ingenious program in a matter of seconds. A researcher can request a search for a persons name, the name of a place or a thing such as a dam. The Search Program generates a report showing the source of the data.

More data is being continuously added to the databases. Currently the data are being stored in the following files:
Images CETA Mine Files
Court Records
Cowbelles
Early Brides
Early Grooms
Great Register
Hospital Records
Loren's Grave Book
Map Index

Mohave County Mines
