ARTISTS OF THE M ONTH

October 1999
Beverly L unger

Beverly Lunger, a native Kansan with a Chippewa heritage, moved to Southern California in 1958, and to Arizona in 1988.  She and her husband moved to Kingman in 1990.  She has a studio/gallery at her residence called Art and Decor Studio.

She has been creative since childhood, exploring various art and craft forms.  As an adult she decided to fulfill a youthful dream to be an artist.  She experienced formal instruction from several exceptional artists/teachers spending a period of years with each one, and attending numerous seminars and workshops.  She paints in oil, acrylic, watercolor, and mixed media.  She delights in experimenting and exploring new ways to express her creativity.

She has been involved with various art associations, juried shows and received many awards and ribbons.  She is currently a member of the Mohave Artists and Craftsmen Guild of Kingman.  She is past president and founder of the Placentia Art Association in Placentia, California and was awarded an Honorary Life-Membership in that organization.  She was appointed by the city of Placentia to serve as president of the Cultural Arts Committee and to serve also as their representative on the Patrons of the Arts at Fullerton College in Fullerton, California.  The city of Placentia presented her a Commendation Award for her contribution to the advancement of the arts.  Her art is included in numerous private and corporate collections throughout the United States and several foreign countries. (Including the City Hall in Placentia, California.

One of her goals is to interpret the beauty of the world through her art, so that the viewer's perception of their world might be expanded in a deeper and broader dimension.  She is inspired daily by the beauty of the Southwest.
