I was born in
Brule, Nebraska but moved to Denver, Colorado for my high school and college
years and graduated from Denver University with a B.S. in Chemistry.
My working years were spent with FMC Corporations chemical plant in southwestern
Wyoming. Green River was an excellent place to live, work, and raise
a family.
After our four
children were raised and gone, my wife Phoebe, an accomplished artist, decided
to open her own art shop. Along with arts and crafts we soon expanded
the business to include matting and framing. This was my department.
I really enjoyed it and felt this could possibly be one of my retirement hobbies.
Upon retiring
we moved to Oregon, probably to be close to our favorite daughter and her
family. I needed more than just salmon and halibut fishing so, using
my framing experience, I developed an 8X10 picture of the "Legend of the
Sand Dollar". Each picture had two sand dollar shells, the five doves
inside the shell, and the legend. The wife and I spent many hours on
the Oregon beaches hunting the sand dollar shells. They were quite
attractive and I sold them to gift shops along the Oregon coast.
After a few years
the Oregon rain got to us and we decided to move to Arizona. Here,
with Arizona being such a natural for beautiful pictures, I decided to take
up photography and matte and frame my pictures.
