Desert Tortoise
I have two desert tortoise. They are now 6 years old. I made their pen larger a couple of years ago so they could move around more and have planted grass in the new section. In their area I have planted clover, alfalfa, ground morning glory (convolvus), orange malva, and grass. I also feed them tortoise food, assorted vegetables, dandelions, mulberry leaves, and grape leaves. When I got them they were only 4" across and now they are about 10" or that's about what they were when they went into hibernation. They started out with a 2'x4' frame with wire on top that was bout 4' square and as they got bigger they got higher walls and I used to have a bucket cut off at about 2" tall for them to drink and soak in.
These are older photo's, I'll take new ones this spring. I plan on planting some petunias in their pen and I need to get some cabbage and some zuchinni started so I can grow my own food for them. They have a den dug under a rose bush in their pen. I made them a bigger watering hole that is lined in cement. I have a line from my watering system ran to it so it gets fresh water every two days. They like climbing into the water and soaking.

The black around them is the mulch over the new grass seed. They will have a nice grassy area when it comes in good.
