Welcome to Rose Gardening in Arizona!

I think I'll tell you a story of how I came to love my roses and gardening. I grew up between my aunt & uncle's place and my grandparents. My uncle gardened and I remember his canna being taller than me. I used to follow him everywhere. When I was about eight, we moved from my Uncle and Aunt's in Hawthorne, CA, up to Salinas, CA and stayed with my mother's parents. Grandpa loved his roses. He had rows of them in the back yard! He'd spend hours tending them. They smelled so good and he had about every color you could think of. Grandpa is the reason we ended up moving to Kingman. He had a heart problem and was told to move to drier weather, viola! Here I am still here in the double wide trailer they bought and set up on three lots! I bought the place from their estate because I love it here. It is my roots and my life! My memories of my grandfather who was right up in the hero stage like Uncle Gene.

I buy most of my roses at Home Depot or Walmart. I've gotten a couple at Lowe's or at Plant World in Las Vegas, Nevada. I ordered my first Zephrine Drouhin from Jackson & Perkins and then by chance found the second at Walmart. I've also ordered several online. I am going to buy more antique roses as time goes by.

I have full yard pictures on my Webshots site on the index page if you want to keep up with more current yard photo's. My garden is my pride and joy and I constantly look out my windows and French door to enjoy the blooms. I love walking in my yard first thing in the morning with my cup of coffee.

I moved one of my Zepherine Drouhins yesterday, I had them too close together so now one is in the front yard. I have a fence separating the front from the back and I put it on the fence in front of the greenhouse. It will look nice there. Now to figure out what to put where I took it out of.
