INTRO:

Welcome to Kingman, Arizona, we are in the Northwest corner, Zone 7. We do have some great sunsets and sunrises. The purpose of this web page is to introduce you to ponds and gardening; one led to the other. We have quite warm temperatures in the 100's in the summer (but it is a dry heat!) and cool way down for the winter, we actually get snow. Kingman is actually a great place to live. Laughlin, NV, is only 30 miles away to go and gamble at the casino's or just play in the river. We have our own Hualapai Mountains; we go up there and camp during the summer or just spend the day for a picnic. They also just opened a new bike trail that takes you around the back side of the mountains and it is really beautiful back there. It is usually 10-15 degrees cooler up there. California is only 60 miles away if you want to hang out in hot Needles, and Las Vegas is 100 miles away. We go there to shop periodically for fun and to visit our Air Force daughter (and 3 yr. old grandson) that is stationed at Nellis AFB; she is an air traffic controller. Our favorite camping is in Williams in the forest and there is also fishing in several lakes. Flagstaff is about 60 miles farther east past Williams and we like to go there also to have dinner and shop if we're in Williams.

I started playing in the yard after we built the ponds. I have arbors, perennial beds, tons of roses and daylilies, and more in our yard. Our other kids are: one is still in the Marines, soon to get out in 29 Palms, Ca. Our next son lives here and has our beautiful 8 year old grand daughter, and our youngest daughter was in the Navy but is out now going to college on the GI bill and has our youngest grand daughter of 2 yrs.

My husband and I have been amateur ponders for 17 years. He does all the plumbing and filter building for me. Our first pond was an old horse trough that holds 170 gallons, we still have it and use it for a holding tank when we clean the ponds. We have always talked about building a bigger in-ground pond. We've had many ponds and have taken down and rebuilt several times. I guess we are finally done, I'm really happy with the new one in the back yard and the one in the front is positioned under our bedroom window and it drowns out all night noise. But, who knows? Things always change!

So, sit a spell and cruise through my site. I have ideas for recycling, building filters to flower beds and lots of pictures of my ponds and gardens, with a bit of art and quilting on the side.

My kitties- left to right: Ginger-long tail, Baby-stubby tail, & Calypso-no tail. Ginger & Calypso were sister & brother. They would have been 3 this year. Baby is 14 this year. This photo is dedicated to Calypso who ingested antifreeze 7/05 and died. Yoda is my black brat, who came to us in 2006 about the same time that Calypso died.
