Ramses Kora

Kora is a broodmare Extraordinare! She was born at Plum Grove Farm, bred by the Loeber family. She is the results of a superb outcross breeding.

Kora's sire *Lancers Sahm was a lovely bay stallion. Imported from Egypt, Sahm was a successful Grand Champion show horse and a popular sire of Champion get before he was export. He was well known for his gentle nature, exquisite chiseled head and large eyes. He is the main source of  his sire's blood, Sabeel, in this Country. Martin Loeber saw something special in this stallion and bred three of his mares to him before he left the country.  Kora was the only resulting mare and the only one to produce Straight Egyptian offspring.

Kora's dam, Ramses El-Hilal, was the results of Martin Loeber's two favorite straight Egyptian imports. *Ramses Fayek, Ramses El-Hilal's sire, made a name for himself in history not only as a sire of top quality straight Egyptians, here and in Egypt, but also a sire of top Champion Polish crosses. Several of his offspring went on to win National Championships! *Nayla, Ramses El-Hilal's dam, was a import from Germany (1973). Straight Egyptian and Sheykh Obeyd, she was the most treasured mare owned by the Loeber family.  She was sired by the famous treasured stallion, Hadban Enzahi and tracing back to some of the best mares in Egypt, Nefisa, Helwa, and Bint Farida on the bottom female line! Ramses El-Hilal was one of six of this pairing but she had the added bonus of being a bay out of two greys. She had five offspring, most of which were outcross breedings like Kora and went on to produce well.

Kora never got a chance to show in the show ring, for she was too valuable as a broodmare. She managed to produce better than herself and yet pass on the best of her traits. One standout daughter was Ramses Camelia, whom as a yearling, was the second highest selling filly at the Pyramid Society's Breeders' Sale VII for the closing price of $90,000 and then she turned around and won her new owners $40,000 by placing first at the Calcutta Filly Fantasia class! In 1990 she was exported to Brazil.
