The Evidence of Wind
copyright 2003
The tree is ancient.
Her roots reach deep into the ground.
Her arms reach up to heaven.
Her body sturdy, having borne life and soul.
She takes nourishment from the soil.
With her penetrating roots.
She breathes nourishment from the Sky air.
She drinks from the life giving waters.
She moves so slowly,
Reaching down, reaching up,
Reaching out reaching in.

Sometimes, like right now,
She is full of leaves.
Adornment, shelter, gatherers of light and air.
Sometimes, like right now,
She feels them moving,
Being touched by a warm motion,
Coming to her stationary self.

While the earth turns,
And the moon changes shape,
And the stars shine.
As the night flowers close
As the morning flowers open.
As the creatures of the night
Morph into creatures of the day.
The unseen seducing the seen,
The scene seducing her soul.
Her soul reaching down, reaching up,
Reaching in, reaching out,
As she feels thousands of leaves being caressed.
“Dont stop, come closer“, she beckons.
“Surround me, embrace me with your warmth.
Bring what you have, what you are, what you become.
I stand here in your path, on your path,
Along your way“,
She whispers as she bears
The evidence of wind.
