When I was a child there was an uncle of mine who was great in drawing at least in my eyes. I remember I gave him a small toy elephant one of these plastic animals and he drew an elephant running through the African savannah. For me, this was the key to my artistic life. After that I did pencil drawings of animals. In the following years, drawing was very important to me. As a student of Egyptology, I went to Egypt for several excavations, for example, drawing sketches of ceramics and other findings. Drawing is a kind of meditation. You have to sharpen your eyes to see details.

When I was 22 years old I bought a second hand reflex camera. Now I was lost in photography. I took pictures of everything interesting to me, and soon found out that nature and its phenomena like flowers, animals or landscapes are my favorite objects. In the meantime my view for pictures that have a quality like paintings has sharpened.

Meanwhile more than 3000 slides and photographs are existing, not all of them fitting these criteria, because I also like to take snapshots of people. All the pictures have been taken with the same reflex camera, a Minolta X-700.

Im also fascinated by architecture of all times and countries, and the relationship between nature, human beings and time or timelessness you can call it transience.

I try to see the beauty of common things and situations and mostly I find it in details, in colors and lines. The beauty of this planet and the beauty created by man is a continuous source of interest for me.
